Unusual Car Door Designs

One of the most refreshing features which deviates from the ordinary conventional approach to car design is the choice of door mechanism. Sometimes it is different merely for the sake of flamboyance, other times it's surprisingly practical. Make your own opinion and pick your favorite. NOTE: The year indicated in the upper right corner suggests the year of introduction, not necessarily the year...
American Cars Party Tricks (1963-1972)

Sixties were charming and care-free beyond today's standards. The zeitgeist of this era can be well observed on Detroit cars. You be the judge. Song 1: The Lovin' Spoonful - Summer In The City (1966) Song 2: Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bad Moon Rising (1969)
American Cars Party Tricks (1949-1962)

America's confidence was at its peak in the mighty fifties; while Europe and Japan were still recovering from the material and moral damage of WW2 and thus producing rather humble cars, US car manufacturers created their own league and were not afraid to come up with funny features in the vicious fight for the demanding domestic customer. This fight was most fierce in the luxury segment. Today,...
I think you got nearly all of them except for the first two generations of the Nissan Pulsar NX.
Title of video: "Unusual car door designs" Half the cars: Gull wing doors and Lambo doors Honestly the only one on here that is truly unusual is the Marzal, simply because it's a Lambo with Gullwing doors. But that Lincoln M7. Chef's kiss.
Bring this design back”

Awesome compilation
those 70s italian cars are something!
I wish these cars were still popular, they look so cool
Absolutely Amazing Automobiles!
The 928 is missing... But excellent video. Props for putting a 911 Slope nose in there.
928 appears in the 1970s pop-up headlights special
Please tell car names also
Ah the good old days! How I miss them when cars were cars and you could fit in them. And a bench seat was a sofa seat and you could sleep in them!!
1980 - 1982 C3 Corvette.
"More than meets the eye..."
Great song, great pop ups
POP UP UP AND DOWN HEADLIGHTS
And cool colors too. Much better than the fugly gray cars of today
Waiting for the car with Record Player, forget the car and year.
I miss the about a dozen or so ashtrays, many with their own lighter.
What's the one at 0:12 ?
Isuzu Piazza
nascar is realy hard to win
Клевые времена.Раньше умели думать и делать качественное на долго.Сейчас только менять названия и делать одноразовое.
I love the music so much i cant stop singing it
Great video, are you planning the 1990s next?
The car from 80 to early 2000 is beautiful..
Americans were always so ahead of Euro cars, some of these features are now the novelties on Euro models, cornering lights, motion signals, etc…
Great videos keep them coming more!
Party tricks - not so much, Ingenuity.
Very cool, esp the Montreal and Jarama. Sorry to nerd it but the Stevens Lotus Esprit is actually from the 80s (it should be a Giugiaro version)
ALL the best cars!
Love the 348 at the end! 🥰
you forgot the revision of the 300zx, also japanese z31 had slightly different headlights
The pop-up spins like the Corvette is the best.
🥰
🥰
I need to have this play on an endless loop on a TV in my garage.
Beautiful!
This was the era when cars were cars. Not a single chip on a circuit board was used in these cars for their functionalities. All were mechanical relays with motors and switches instead of a computer controlling it all. You don't find thise nifty things on a Tesla.
They ruined cars; 1) by banning pop ups 2) inventing EV's we the people want to hear the induction noise of the carburator, the crack and pop of the exhaust, the dynamics of a lumpy cam or ported rotary, the growl with some gas, the smell of burnt oil and the joy of the pop-ups.
I agree with u a lil 2 much
@@Goon_Lagoon69420 👍
You have one of the most underrated RUclips channels.please keep up the good work.
That C4 Corvette was a 96 Collector Edition.
The design is very beautiful.Fantastic video!
I see Europeans in general didn't favour pop-ups then nearly as much as the Americans and Japanese, it seems like it was pretty much only reserved for sports cars and even then just in Italy and England.
No countach 😢
For Countach, you have to dig deeper: ruclips.net/video/5gAZqYbNGOU/видео.html
you should do a video on the earliest cars with pop up lights, like the Cord 812 had pop us in the 1930s
And I have! But since there's only 4 cars that were being produced with any kind of hideaway headlights, I included them at the end of my 1960s compilation: ruclips.net/video/MXK6cAVlDqk/видео.html
It's really great video!
Yes! And the Jalpa was early in the video! Nice!
Fantastic video
Always love cars with pop up headlights.
Other ones: BMW Isetta and Microlino (door in the front), Peugeot 1007 (only sliding doors).
Done! See here: ruclips.net/video/3FtTwGFHMdo/видео.html
